The first three steps in the Way of Escape Battle Plan are not new (e.g., plug into ministry, remove the offending eye, and watch and pray). Christian leaders have long encouraged fellow believers to heed these admonitions of Scripture in their battle to overcome the flesh.

The really big “What’s New?” in the Way of Escape Battle Plan? The construction of a library of Spirit-anointed apps. Apps that the under-siege believer can repeatedly access: (i) pre-emptively to clean neural pathways and renew the mind, and (ii) in the heat of battle to counter attacks of the flesh. Today’s post focuses on this most critical fourth step in the Way of Escape Battle Plan.

My mind needed to be renewed. My brain needed to be rewired. New neural pathways needed to be laid down. New pathways created by repeatedly accessing my library of limbic-friendly, Spirit-saturated apps.

Before I began to track data, I spent 5-1/2 months screening candidates for inclusion in my library of apps. On my Kickoff Date for the start of data collection (December 15, 2017), I had added 12 of the 23 apps that would eventually comprise my finished library. Yes, a fair amount of work is required to find apps with just the right combination of limbic (emotional/visual) and spiritual content. But I started from scratch. Readers of A Way of Escape gain the benefit of my experience. They will have access to my finished library. And the strategies used in its construction. Most readers should therefore be able to construct a Starter Library of apps in a time period significantly shorter than my 5-1/2 months.

Next came the fun and easy part—I simply started daily walking in my Spirit-anointed apps (Galatians 5:16). These new (better) neural pathways that I was creating were competing with the older (bad) ones. In time, the new would eventually replace the old. For me, it really was that simple.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

In A Way of Escape, readers learn how to step up the degree to which they “walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16). They learn how to build a library of Spirit-anointed, flesh-diffusing apps. Apps that are uniquely fitted to them, and their unique Spirit-filling triggers.

The still-struggling now have another option. The still-struggling now have fresh hope for discovering that long-sought-after way of escape from sin and temptation (I Corinthians 10:13). A way that—because it is wholly Spirit-powered—does not require enlisting the aid of an accountability partner or group. Truly, a game-changer!
