All builders of the higher-profile Bible-based purity programs insist that escape from a porn/sex addiction is only possible with accountability. This is simply not true. In today’s post, we hear from four other voices, each of whom promises addicts a way of escape from their habit, without ever having to enlist the aid of a flesh-starving accountability partner or group.

VOICE #1: HOLY SCRIPTURE

God has made an amazing promise in Galatians 5:16. To all who choose to walk in the Spirit, He has promised deliverance from lusts of the flesh. No flesh-starving accountability partner/group required. The key to victory is hiding in the plain sight of Scripture. Victory over the flesh is guaranteed, so long as I am walking in the Spirit.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

VOICE #2: ESCAPE THEOLOGY

Flesh-starving accountability-based escape is difficult. It’s hard work; extremely hard work (see www.wileygrafbooks.com/news/the-hardest-thing-v15). Which begs the question: If Salvation is by Grace, why would escape ONLY be by so much hard work? Flesh-starving accountability cannot be the only way of escape. From a theological perspective, there simply must be another way of escape.

If Salvation is by Grace, why would escape ONLY be by so much hard work ... From a theological perspective, there simply must be another way of escape.

The Way of Escape Battle Plan teaches readers how to escape addictive lusts of the flesh, not by starving the flesh, but by feeding the Spirit instead. Readers learn how stepping up the degree to which they walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) results in a much easier-to-successfully-navigate Escape Route. An Escape Route that is theologically more consistent with the Biblical Doctrine of Salvation by Grace. An Escape Route that does not require enlisting the aid of a flesh-starving accountability partner or group (see Blog#32 at www.wileygrafbooks.com/news/salvation-by-grace-escape-by-works-v16).

VOICE #3: THE WAY OF ESCAPE CASE STUDY

The Way of Escape Case Study demonstrates Complete Mind Renewal without ever having to enlist the aid of a flesh-starving accountability partner or group. The Way of Escape Battle Plan relies solely on the Holy Spirit’s power to deliver believers from addictive lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). As of this writing (July 2026), this sexually healthy married Christian male has not “acted out” sexually for 100% of days in the most recent 88 months!

VOICE #4: REPLACEMENT BEHAVIORS (Secular Psychology)

In secular psychology, replacement behaviors substitute healthier, socially acceptable actions for unwanted behaviors. For it to succeed, the replacement behavior must be faster-and-easier to access-and-repeat than the unwanted behavior. If the replacement behavior is also more pleasurable, it will be repeated more often.

In the language of secular psychology, the Way of Escape’s Spirit-anointed, flesh-diffusing apps identify as replacement behaviors. Each viewing of these apps creates new (better) circuits in the brain. With each subsequent viewing, these new (better) brain circuits strengthen. The new (better & stronger) brain circuits compete with the older (bad) brain circuits and eventually replace them.

Yes, even secular psychology acknowledges that the Way of Escape’s Replacement-Behavior-Laced Escape Plan is quite capable of freeing addicts from their addictions. And to do so without ever having to enlist the aid of a flesh-starving accountability partner or group.

Not surprisingly, nearly 2000 years ago, Jesus was already teaching on the need for Replacement Behaviors (Matthew 12:43-45)—yet another confirmation from Holy Scripture of the viability of the Way of Escape Battle Plan!

A GAME-CHANGING BOOK HAS ARRIVED

In A Way of Escape, readers are introduced to a Repeated-Immersions-In-The-Spirit Escape Plan. Readers learn how to renew their minds, not by starving the flesh, but by stepping up the degree to which they “walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16). They learn how to build a library of Spirit-anointed, flesh-diffusing apps that are uniquely fitted to them, and their unique Spirit-filling triggers (Ephesians 5:18b-19).

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

The still-struggling now have another option. The still-struggling now have fresh hope for discovering that long-sought-after way of escape from temptation and resulting sin (I Corinthians 10:13). A way that—because it is wholly Spirit-powered—does not require enlisting the aid of a flesh-starving accountability partner or group. Truly, a game-changer!
